What's In My Hospital Bag

I did a lot of research via Pinterest and had a lot of advice from other mamas on what to pack in my hospital bag. This post was scheduled to go out before baby Olivia arrived, however, it actually works out better to post it now, as I can tell you what I ACTUALLY needed. When I first went to pack my hospital bag, I had so many unnecessary items in it to really “zen out” the room…LOL…that turned out to be the last thing on my brain going into the delivery room.

I also had picked out my favorite Eberyjay pajamas, a beautiful silk robe, and nice slippers in my online shopping bags. Luckily, a very smart mama friend of mine brought me back to real life with the possibility of getting baby poop, throw up, and other fun after labor stuff on these items. I went the much smarter route, to Target, picked up some great pajama sets, robe, comfy undies, etc. Here is the list of items I brought and actually needed!

For mama:

  • Pajama Set | Target

  • Robe | Target

  • Nighty | Target

  • Slippers | J Crew

  • Undies | Target | make sure they are comfortable!!! I like the seamless ones…

  • Nursing Bra & Tanks | Nordstrom | I would rather use a bralette now that I know. The nursing bras make me feel like a grandma.

  • Blanket | TJ Maxx | bring a blanket, the hospital ones are so bad.

  • Rose Water Spray Dry Shampoo | Coconut Oil

  • Cosmetics | bring things that make you feel like a human again. Putting on mascara and little foundation the day after was marvelous! Definitely, bring your own body wash. After I had that baby it was luxurious to shower with good stuff! And coconut oil was a game changer to slather on after as well.

  • Champagne | we toasted with our family in the delivery room

  • Snacks | Bulletproof Collogan Bars | these are so good!!

  • Electronics | camera | phone/phone charger | jam box | my husband made a wonderful “push” playlist, it really helped the time go by.

  • Paperwork | have all your paperwork filled out before arriving to the hospital

For baby:

  • Onesies | Aden + Anais  | bring two different sizes, we brought newborn and premie sizes. Olivia was 6lbs 8oz, 19 inches long, the premie fit her best.

  • Hat | Gap

  • Swaddle Blankets| Little Unicorn

  • Car seat | Uppa Baby | have this installed weeks before your due date. Uppa Baby car seats are great for newborns, as they have an extra insert for newborn babies.

  • Carseat Blanket | Pottery Barn

  • Hat | Gap

  • Baby Gloves & Bo

Things the hospital provides…use them!

  • Pads

  • Disposable Undies | the first two nights these were great, as they nicely hold an ice diaper (oh you will learn to love ice diapers!)

  • Witch Hasel Pads | these are great!

  • Baby Blanket | not cute, but convenient, you will be so tired you do not care which blanket is used after delivery

  • Baby Diapers | Wipes | white onesies

xoxo, Lady H
