Morning Boost: Smoothie Bowl
Well, I have finally jumped on the smoothie bowl bandwagon. As you all know, I have been drinking green smoothies for breakfast for the past few years now. There is a certain sense of accomplishment that comes with working out and getting in lots of fruits and veggies before 10am.
During our recent travels to Hawaii, where I ate an acai bowl daily, I realized I could turn any of my favorite smoothies into a bowl. Why do that you ask? The reason why is that with just a few additional ingredients, you can turn just about any smoothie into a complete meal.
This smoothie bowl is delish! It’s simple, quick and customizable. Here is a basic round up of ingredients. You can get really creative with smoothie bowls by adding avocado, nut butter, hemp seeds, granola…you get the point…
Ingredients
Smoothie Bowl:
1 c. frozen berries
1 c. yogurt (I use coconut or almond plain yogurt)
½ c. unsweetened almond milk
1 serving protein powder (Garden of Life is my go to)
1 tablespoon almond butter
1/2 c. spinach
Ice
Toppings:
Shredded coconut | chia seeds | shaved almond | fresh berries | GF Granola
Other Great Additions:
Hemp seeds | Banana | Cinnamon | Lemon | Coconut Oil
Directions
Blend yogurt, almond milk, spinach, nut butter, protein powder + frozen berries until smoothie. Add ice as needed if you prefer a thicker texture. Pour mixture in a bowl. Place toppings in a colorful row….beautiful & delicious!
