Summer in Bozeman: Where to Eat
I’ve had a lot of people reach out to me as they are traveling to Bozeman, MT this summer asking about where to eat.
I believe that food really brings out the unique culture of a city or place. Sure, there are great places to explore, mountains to hike, rivers to see — but there’s nothing like immersing yourself in the food scene of the places you visit to really get a feel the vibe of the area.
We are so lucky that beautiful Bozeman continues to have amazing new restaurants show up. Many times Nick and I have to pinch ourselves to remind us that we are in Montana enjoying great food from around the world. There are many delicious restaurants to try, but these top my list!

Blackbird Kitchen
This cozy and quaint eatery is my top-rated restaurant in Bozeman. They cook with local and organic ingredients, and everything on the menu is wonderful! I highly recommend the kale salad and the speck pizza….so so good! Since it’s fairly small, make reservations way in advance to be sure you can get a table!
Dave’s Sushi
If you are a sushi lover, make sure to stop at Dave’s! I know what you are thinking….sushi in Montana? But trust me, I have eaten sushi all over the world, and Dave’s is one of my favorites! They have a great patio, so try to sit outside. Order the escolar sashimi with lime zest and black pepper, seasamame (instead of edamame, not on the menu…wink wink), the Dave’s salad bowl with spicy tuna, and we always get a chef’s choice rice-less roll. A few other standouts, tuna-mon roll (not on the menu), green eggs and ham roll, & shrimpy shiro roll. Also, my favorite wine by the glass there is the Vinho Verde…my mouth is now watering!
Plonk
Plonk might be known for their beautifully curated cocktail list and exquisite wine list, however, their menu is a hidden gem! Located right on Main Street, it’s a great place to people watch and have a wonderful meal. I highly recommend trying one of their locally sourced dishes. Or, go there for lunch, which is usually less crowded, and try the vegan heart of palm crab cakes, a summer salad, and a glass of rose…
Jam
Looking for an amazing brunch spot? Make sure to check out Jam, located right on Main Street. Their coffee is great, but the mimosas are even better! Perfect way fuel up for a hike or a day of shopping downtown. I always order the veggie omelet with avocado, plus they serve great gluten-free toast. We also love the coconut flour pancake!
Emerson Grill
If you’re an Italian food lover, make sure to stop at the Emerson Grill. If you can, try to sit outside, they have the most beautiful outdoor seating space.
Urban Kitchen
New to Bozeman, Urban Kitchen brings a fun twist to the culinary scene. The vibe is hip, and the food is great. The salmon is my favorite dish, and this is a good spot to get a delicious steak.
Pompey’s Grill
I know I probably shouldn’t list my own restaurant, however, it is really really good! I might be bias, but even if it weren’t mine, I would list Pompey’s Grill, located in the Sacajawea Hotel. It’s about a 30-minute drive west from Bozeman, but worth the drive. Chef Matt seasonally changes the menu and sources locally. A few favorites: the chopped salad, the rack of lamb, the scallops, oh and you must try the beet risotto! We prefer to sit outside on the beautiful patio and sip a glass of our rotating rose.
Lot G
I’m a frequent visitor to Lot G for lunch during my work week. The menu is completely gluten-free, and also delicious. I love the kale salad with grilled chicken.
Feast
Probably the only place in Bozeman to get oysters on the half shell, this place is really good. The restaurant is decorated perfectly to pair with their fresh seafood menu.
Feed Cafe
Another favorite breakfast or lunch spot is Feed Cafe. The menu is fresh and healthy.
