Quebec City

Quebec City, often referred to as the "Europe of North America," is a captivating destination that transports you to a different era with its rich history, charming old-world architecture, and a unique blend of French and Canadian culture. Nestled along the St. Lawrence River, this enchanting city is a haven for history buffs, foodies, and adventure seekers alike.

Old Quebec: A UNESCO World Heritage Treasure

The heart of Quebec City lies within its Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site that is a living testament to its 400-year-old history. As you stroll through the cobblestone streets of Old Quebec, you'll feel as if you've stepped back in time. The historic architecture, fortified city walls, and charming squares create an atmosphere that is truly unique.

Highlights:

  • Château Frontenac: This iconic Fairmont hotel, perched high on a hill, offers stunning views of the city and is a must-visit landmark.

  • Place Royale: The birthplace of French civilization in North America, this charming square features historic buildings and cozy cafes.

  • Rue Saint-Jean: A bustling street filled with shops, restaurants, and vibrant street art, making it perfect for shopping and dining.

Where To Stay

We stayed at the historic Fairmont Chateau Frontenac it’s iconic. The restaurants are terrific. The rooms and overall property need an update, but it’s classic.

  • Others on my list: Auberge Saint Antoine & Hotel 71

Culinary Delights

Quebec City is a culinary paradise, offering a delightful fusion of French and Canadian cuisine. Be sure to sample some local delicacies during your visit, such as tourtière (a savory meat pie), poutine (fries topped with cheese curds and gravy), and tarte au sucre (sugar pie).
