2 Days in London
When: May
Stay: Rosewood London
Duration: 2 Days
Note: Guide with Kids
This is only my second time to city, so I’ve consolidated all the favorites stays, eats, and things to do. I do think London is one of the most beautiful cities, it has a certain magic and electricity about it.
Stay
Rosewood London
While Holborn is a little bit random, London's first, ultra-luxurious Rosewood Hotel has all the makings of a classic, from the grand courtyard entrance, to the Asian-inflected, but still very stately British décor, to the splashy Holborn restaurant and Scarfe Bar (featuring illustrator Gerald Scarfe’s humorous wall murals).
We stayed @rosewoodlondon. 10/10 service, food, activities, concierge, and very kid friendly. The team @rosewoodlondon went above and beyond to make our little family feel at home.
Clariges
It's a great place to stay, and it's also a wonderful spot to duck into for an afternoon tea. Live piano and violin (sometimes even a double bass) accompany the much-acclaimed menus here. You'll find a variety of small-batch Tregothnan English Estate blends, which are the perfect companion to the finger sandwiches, warm scones, and clotted cream. Their famous Marco Polo jelly is not to be missed, neither is a walk through the Art Deco lobby to check out the stunning sweeping staircase.
We stayed at @clariges last time in London, and it was equally as magical. The location is amazing!
Eat
We found incredible local spots to eat at. We loved @chiltrenfirehouse for lunch, @jsjeely for dinner, 34 Mayfair for lunch, Bacchanali for dinner, Clariges for the best eggs, Jacuzzi for lunch, and @parkchinos for dinner, Rosewood Halbourn for lunch (get the pie!). Also do not miss Churchill Arms for great thai food or for a beverage. The place is very photogenic. We enjoyed high tea at the Rosewood. While in London definitely schedule a high tea, it’s a special experience.
Do
The highlight of our trip was a treasure hunt around the city, searching for the Crown Jewels. We booked with Yellow Moon Tours, and the experience was amazing. We toured all the famous sites searching for the next clue. If there is one piece of advice I’d tell another parent who wants to travel with their kids is, get on their level and enjoy the little things with them.
Other highlights were playing in the wonderful parks London has to offer: Regent Park, St. James Park, and Hyde Park all were lovely. Hamleys toys store, located on Regent street is a much. I would also recommend riding in the London Eye, taking a double decker hop on and hop off bus to see the city. Another tip: get up early and see all the site before the crowds of people arrive.
I frequently get asked: Was it hard traveling with kids?’ We have challenging moments, that’s every day life though. These kids are wild and fun and good listeners and we follow each others quests and needs nicely.
